Scientific and societal challenges do not stop at the boundaries between disciplines. Interdisciplinary congress formats therefore bring together different scientific fields, perspectives and target groups, creating opportunities for exchange that go beyond traditional specialist congresses.
Together with experts from various disciplines, Hermann Hanser initiated advisory boards that gave rise to new congress concepts and event formats.
CPO HANSER SERVICE contributes its many years of experience in the conceptual design, strategic development and organisation of medical and scientific events. The aim is to create congresses that foster interdisciplinary exchange, open up new perspectives and connect scientific topics with issues of wider societal relevance.
The Sports, Medicine and Health Summit
Under the motto “Proven Expertise in Sports, Medicine and Health”, the Sports, Medicine and Health Summit (SMHS) brings together science, medicine, sport and society. Its focus is on scientifically sound insights and reliable information on physical activity, sport and health – communicated in an accessible way and relevant to professionals as well as anyone with an interest in sport and health.
The interdisciplinary congress format combines scientific presentations and discussions with practical and interactive activities, creating opportunities for exchange between science, practice and a broad public audience.
An important milestone was the signing of the Hamburg Declaration at the first Sports, Medicine and Health Summit. More than 50 national and international organisations, scientific societies and sports associations joined the initiative, demonstrating their shared commitment to tackling physical inactivity.
The next Sports, Medicine and Health Summit will take place in Hamburg on 15–16 April 2027.
Congresses with Societal Impact
The Sports, Medicine and Health Summit is one example of how CPO HANSER SERVICE combines scientific exchange across disciplines with current societal issues. Other congresses organised by CPO also provide platforms for topics that reach far beyond their respective professional communities.
One of these is the Deutscher Pflegetag (German Nursing Congress), which CPO organises annually in Berlin as an event organiser and shareholder of Deutsche Pflegetag Servicegesellschaft. As a major event for the professional nursing community, it brings together nursing professionals, policymakers, associations, researchers and other stakeholders from across the healthcare sector. The 2025 Deutscher Pflegetag was sold out before the event began. The next congress will take place in Berlin on 12–13 November 2026.
Through formats like these, CPO creates opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange, societal debate and new ideas – from initial concept and strategic development through to on-site delivery.
